Joint staff training and capacity building aim to enhance coherent and coordinated conflict prevention and peace-building efforts as well as to further mainstream conflict sensitive approaches into development assistance and donor activities in the field. The training can offer participants more in-depth knowledge about the causes of conflict and the links between development, peace and security, as well as practical tools for analysing the situation, the integration of conflict aspects in Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs) and the impact of any given programme or activity on the conflict situation.
The joint donor group comprising Denmark, European Union, Germany, Sweden and Norway sponsored two pilot workshops in Uganda/Kampala in 2006 and 2007. The aim of carrying out joint staff training and capacity building is to enhance coherent and coordinated conflict prevention and peace-building efforts as well as to further mainstream conflict sensitive approaches into development assistance and donor activities in the field.
